WATERED BY RUNNING STREAMS
by
Dabroniel Hereticus
This is a comparison of Islam as represented by the Koran and
Christianity as represented by the Bible. The Koran is dated between
the sixth and seventh centuries, Muhammad living from 570 A.D.
and 632 A.D.
"Do two men walk together unless they have made an agreement?"
Amos 3:3. Muslims have stated repeatedly that Islam, Christianity
and Judaism is the same religion. But it is obvious that if two
people truly disagree, at least one of them is wrong. Are Christianity
and Islam saying the same thing? Do Jesus and Muhammad agree?
If not, who is right? There are many writings the Muslims accept
as authoritative in their religion, but the Koran is foremost,
and declares its own infallibility. The authoritative scripture
for Christians is, of course, the Bible.
Though the New Testament was authorized by the Council of Carthage
in A.D. 397, nearly two centuries before Muhammad was born, he
shows no knowledge of the doctrine of Christianity revealed in
it. It is unusual that he *does* seem to show knowledge of many
pseudopigraphical works such as the infancy gospels. But Muhammad's
exposure to Christianity was basically from an Arian monk that
was converted by the edge of a sword. So, while Arianism was condemned
as heresy by the early church, it becomes more
understandable that Muhammad's version of Christianity might differ
from the New Testament. Arianism did however get some things right.
During Muhammad's time, the New Testament and Old Testament
were not universally joined together as one book. So when Muhammad
talks about the "people of the book" he is talking about
the Jews and their Old Testament. Muhammad confirms the divine
inspiration of the Old Testament but not the New Testament. He
does not acknowledge the Apostles by name or their writings. He
DOES use the term "Apostle" in reference to himself
and Old Testament Prophets.
The translation I use the most is a Penguin Classics publication
by Dawood, 1956, 1959, 1966, 1968 1974 and 1990, "The Koran".
I quote from it the most because it uses names like "Abraham"
instead of "Ibrahim". If the names are not expressed
as they are in the Bible, some of them will be hard to recognize
by the English speaking reader. But I also used "The Qur'an",
translated by M.H. Shakir, and published by Tahrike Tarsile Qur'an,
Inc. 1995, for comparison and because it has each verse numbered
and Dawood's translationis only generally numbered. The "Surahs"
(chapters) are named differently as well, but the numbers are
the same. I have no idea if other translations have other names
for the surahs, so go by the numbers if you are checking this
with another translation. The reader should not be surprised that
the Koran seems to change in it's viewpoint on something from
one part to another. Muhammad seems to have felt a certain amount
of flexibility in attitude towards things.
Since I do not read Arabic myself, I am entirely dependent on
translation for my understanding of the Koran. Though I doubt
any interpretation of it on my part will be technical enough to
make a serious difference, I apologize in advance if any misunderstanding
I have does cause serious error. I am trying to stick to the blatantly
obvious.
On some things I am not going to give references as they will
be obvious to anyone who ventures to read the Koran on short order,
such as people of the Old Testament who are acknowledged as speaking
from God. This is going to be long enough as it is! I am trying
to stick to what the Christian will find interesting about the
Koran and no doubt there will be some overkill in some places
anyway.
The Koran is a purported dialog between Gabriel and Muhammad.
It was committed by Muhammad to people who were Professionals
at remembering data and then written down later. Of note is that
the Angel Gabriel says "WE did this and WE did that"
while talking about what God has done.
Among religious works, the Koran is much better reading than
most. I was ready to plod through it much like I had forced myself
to read parts of the communist manifesto. In The Koran, I found
interesting reading and even a sense of humor. This does not mean
I agree with what it says.
I have tried my best to fairly and impartially represent the Islamic
faith as depicted in the Koran. I am sure if I was an Islamic
professor I could have done a better job, but this is only a general
statement anyway, set only to acquaint the reader with Islam in
general terms.

Section 1.
The Koran Declares Itself Infallible
The Cow 2:2 "This book is not to be doubted"
The Cow 2:79 "Woe to those that write the scriptures with
their own hands and then declare, `This is from God!' in order
to gain some paltry end."
The Cow 2:95-98, "Say: `whoever is the enemy of Gabriel
(who has by God's grace revealed to you the Koran as a guide and
joyful tidings for the faithful...'".
Jonah (Yunus) 10:15 "When our clear revelations are recited
to them, those who entertain no hope of meeting Us say to you:
`Give us a different Koran, or make some changes in it'. Say:
`It is not for me to change it. I follow only what is revealed
to me. I cannot disobey my Lord, for I fear the punishment of
a fateful day.'"
Jonah (Yunus) 10:37 "This Koran could not have been devised
by any but God. It confirms what was revealed before it and fully
explains the Scriptures. It is beyond doubt from the Lord of the
Universe."
That which is Coming (The Great Event) 56:75-80 "I swear
by the shelter of the stars (a mighty oath, if you but knew it)
that this is a glorious Koran, safeguarded in a book which none
may touch except the purified; a revelation from the Lord of the
Universe."
The Catastrophe (The Sure Calamity) 69:38-52 "I swear by
all that you can see, all that is hidden from your view, that
this is the utterance of a noble messenger. It is no poet's speech:
scant is your faith! It is no soothsayer's divination: how little
you reflect! It is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe.
Had he (Muhammad?) invented lies concerning Us, We would have
seized him by the right hand and severed his heart's vein: not
one of you could have protected him! It is but an admonition to
the righteous. We well know that there are some among you who
will deny it. It is the despair of unbelievers. It is the indubitable
truth. Praise, then, the name of your Lord, The Almighty."
The Jinn 72:1-2 "Say: `It is revealed to me that a band
of jinn listened to God's revelations and said: "We have
heard a wondrous Koran giving guidance to the right path. We believed
in it and shall henceforth serve none besides our Lord."'"
The Resurrection 75:16-19 "(You need not move your tongue
to fast to learn this revelation. We Ourself shall see to its
collection and recital. When We read it, follow its words attentively;
We shall Ourself explain its meaning.)" |
Section 2.
The Koran Confirms the Infallibility of the Old Testament
The Cow 2:40-41 "Children of Israel remember the favors
I have bestowed upon you. Keep your covenant and I will be true
to Mine. Dread My power. Have faith in my revelations, which confirm
you Scriptures, and do not be the first to deny them. Do not sell
My revelations for a paltry price; fear Me."
The Cow 2:53 "We gave Moses the Scriptures and the knowledge
of right and wrong, so that you might be rightly guided."
The Cow 2:85 "....Can you believe in one part of the Scriptures
and deny another?"
The Cow 2:87 "To Moses we gave the scriptures and after
him We sent other apostles."
The Cow 5:44 "We have revealed the Torah, in which there
is guidance and light. By it the prophets who surrendered themselves
judged the Jews, and so did the rabbis and the divines, according
to God's book which had been committed to their keeping and to
which they themselves were witnesses. Have no fear of man; fear
Me, and do not sell My revelations for a paltry end. Unbelievers
are those who do not judge according to God's revelations."
The Spider 29:27 "We gave him [Abraham] Isaac and Jacob
and bestowed on his descendents prophet-hood and the scriptures."
The Adoration 32:23 "We gave the book to Moses (never doubt
that you will meet him) and made it a guide for the
Israelites. "

to the fire." |

not believe in God, the Most High, nor did he care to feed
the poor. Today he shall be friendless here; filth shall be
his food, the filth which sinners eat.'" |
The Cloaked One
(The Clothed One) 74:26-30 |
"I will surely cast him into the fire.
Would that you knew what the fire is
like! It leaves nothing, it spares no one; it burns the skins
of men. It is guarded by nineteen keepers." |
The Proof
(The Clear Evidence) 98:6 |
"The unbelievers among the People of the
Book and the pagans shall burn forever in
the fire of Hell. They are the vilest of all creatures." |

Section 9.
What the Koran Says about Jesus |
| The Cow 2:87 |
Jesus was the Son of Mary and had the Holy Spirit and
worked signs. |
| The Imrans 3:59 |
Jesus was made like Adam of
dust. |
| The Cow 2:116-117 |
First reference to Jesus as the Son of God and
almost seems accepting of it, but later denies it vehemently. |

and the Gospel, healed the blind and the lepers, raised the
dead, made changes in the Law, died and rose again. |
| Women 4:156-159 |
Says the Jews didn't kill Jesus but they thought they had.
This is reminiscent of Gnostic writings. |
| Women 4:163 |
Jesus listed with the prophets. |
| Women 4:171-172 |
"The Messiah, Jesus the Son of Mary, was
no more than God's apostle and His Word which He cast to Mary:

| The Table (The Food) 5:46-47 |
Jesus was sent with the Gospel which confirmed
the Torah. |
| The Table (The Food) 5:72-75 |
Punishment awaits those who call Jesus God
or preach trinity. Unbelievers preach trinity. Jesus was no
more than an apostle. |
| The Table (The Food) 5:110-111 |
Jesus had favor from God, was strengthened in the Holy
Spirit, therefore He preached, was instructed in wisdom
by God, healed the blind and the leper, raised the dead,
and came with clear signs. |
| The Table (The Food) 5:116 |
"Then God will say, `Jesus, son of Mary,
did you ever say to mankind: "Worship me and my mother
as gods besides God"?' `Glory to You he will answer,
`How could I ever say that to which I have no right.'" |
| The Cattle 6:101 |
"He is the creator of the heavens and the
earth. How could He have a son when He had no consort?" |
| Jonah (Yunus) 10:68 |

| The Night Journey (The Israelites) 17:111 |
"Praise be to God who has never begotten
a Son; Who has no partner in His Kingdom..." |
| The Cave 18:4-6 |
It is blasphemy, ignorance and lies to say God has a son. |
| Mary (Marium) 19:19 |
Jesus was born holy (pure). |
| Mary (Marium) 19:32 |
Jesus was born purged of wickedness and vanity |
| Mary (Marium) 19:35 |
"God forbid that He Himself should beget
a son". |
| Mary (Marium) 19:88-92 |
Those who preach Jesus as the Son of God "preach
a monstrous falsehood" at which the heavens might crack,
the earth break asunder, the mountains crumble to dust..." |
| The Prophets 21:26 |
There are no sons of God. |
| The Believers 23:91 |

| Al-Furqan (The Criterion) 25:2 |
God has begotten no children and has no partner in His
sovereignty. |
| Ornaments of Gold (The Embellishment) 43:59 |
Jesus a mere man on whom was bestowed favor and was made
an example. |
| Ornaments of Gold (The Embellishment) 43:63 |
Jesus came with signs to give them wisdom and to get them
straight about God. |

son he would be the first to worship him. |
| The Prohibition 66:12 |
"And in Mary, Imrans daughter, who preserved her chastity
and into whose womb We breathed of Our spirit; who put her
trust in the words of her Lord and His scriptures, and was
truly devout." |
| The Jinn 72:3-5 |
speaking initially of God, "`He (Exalted
be the glory of our Lord!) has taken no wife, nor has He begotten
any children, The Blaspheming One among us has uttered a wanton
falsehood against God, although we supposed no man or jinnee
could tell of him what is untrue.'" |
| Oneness (The Unity) 1-4 |
"Say: `God is One, the Eternal God. He
begot none, nor was He begotten. None is equal to Him.'" |
|
Section 10.
The Koran Says about Muhammad |
| The Cow 2:2 |
The Koran is not to be doubted. Now I know
that it is one thing to talk about a religious text and another
to talk about the prophet, but since ALL the Koran comes from
the lips of Mohammad, this reflects on him as well. |
| The Imrans 3:31 |
If you love god, you follow Mohammad and you
sins are forgiven. If you turn back, God will not love you. |
| The Heights (The Elevated Places) 7:157-158 |
Mohammad is called an apostle (a term he uses for the
prophets of the Old Testament and Jesus and some of his
own disciples, but he never refers to the apostles of the
New Testament; only making a few references to Jesus having
disciples) and he is called the "Unlettered Prophet"
that the Koran says is inscribed in the Torah and the Gospel.
(I have yet to see a New Testament verse that could apply,
and the only Old Testament verse would be the one Moses
made that Jesus
applied to himself, Deuteronomy 18:15. However, with no
attesting signs or miracles, Muhammad can't be said to be
like Moses or Jesus) Those that follow him will triumph. |
| Repentance 9:33 |
God sent Muhammad as His apostle with the true faith to
make it triumph over all religions. |
| Jonah (Yunus) 10:37 |
The Koran confirms and fully explains the scriptures. |
| Hud 11:17 |
Mohammad claims to be heralded by the book of Moses. |
| The Bee 16:101-104 |
Evidently some had accused Muhammad of being
taught by man the things he supposedly got from Gabriel
the angel. Mohammad says he got it from the Holy Spirit and
you are a liar not guided by God and punishment awaits you
if you do not believe his revelations. Dawood points out that
scholars are in disagreement about who taught Muhammad his
"facts" he uses in the Koran; Salman the Persian,
Suhaib bin Sinan, or Adas the monk. |
| The Pilgrimage 22:78 |
Islam called the faith of Abraham. He claims
the name "Muslim" was given in former scriptures. |
| The Believers 23:52-54 |
Islam is one religion, "yet men have divided
themselves into factions, each rejoicing in it's own doctrines.
Leave them in their error till death overtakes them." |
| |
The Greeks (The Romans, someone MUST be wrong
here!)) 30:31- 32 "Do not split up your religion into
sects, each exulting in its own beliefs." (See also Cattle
6:159-160) |
| The Confederate Tribes (The Allies) 33:6 |
Muhammad has more claim on them than they do
on each other. |
| The Confederate Tribes (The Allies) 33:7 |
Covenants were made with Noah, Abraham, Moses,
Jesus and now Muhammad. |
| The Confederate Tribes (The Allies) 33:36-53 |
It is not for believers to choose when Allah
through His apostle (Muhammad) have decided a matter. This
was in reference Muhammad's adopted son having a wife that
Muhammad wanted and after he divorced her, Muhammad took her
as his own wife. Gabriel explains that this was God's will
and no blame should be put on Muhammad. Muhammad is called
the "Apostle of God and the Seal of the Prophets".
At this time, Dawood points out, Muhammad had nine wives,
not counting slave girls, even though he allowed his followers
only four. But Muhammad is a special case. This was made lawful
for him alone by Gabriel: His wives, his slave girls gotten
as booty, his first cousins, and any woman that gave herself
to him and he wanted. But this was only for him, no other
believer. He couldn't trade his wives for others, or "receive"
them if he had put them away, but he could do what he wanted
with his slave girls. No one could wed Muhammad's wives after
him. And you must not speak ill of Muhammad. |
| The Confederate Tribes (The Allies) 33:57 |
Those who speak ill of Muhammad are condemned
in this life and the next. |
| The Sand Dunes (The Sand Hills) 46:9 |
The angel Gabriel tells Muhammad, "Say:
`I am no prodigy among the apostles; nor do I
know what will be done with me or you. I follow only what
is revealed to me, and my only duty is to give plain warning."
Interesting that he said he wasn't sure of his fate. |
| Muhammad 47:1-2 |
"God will bring to nothing the deeds of
those who disbelieve and debar others from His path. As for
the faithful who do good works and believe in what is revealed
to Muhammad - which is the Truth form their Lord - He will
forgive them their sins and ennoble their state." |
| The Victory 48:10 |
Swearing allegiance to Muhammad is swearing
allegiance to God. |
| The Victory 48:28 |
Islam to be exalted above all religions. |
| The Battle Array (The Ranks) 61: |
And of Jesus the son of Mary, who said to the
Israelites: `I am sent forth to you from God to confirm the
Torah already revealed, and to give news of an apostle that
will come after me whose name is Ahmad.' Yet when He brought
them clear signs they said: `This is plain sorcery'"
(This is quite different from the New Testament in which Jesus
says rather plainly in Matthew 24:23-27 that after Him would
come false prophets and false christs and to wait for His
second coming.) |
|
Section 11.
What the Koran Says about Christianity and Christians |
| The Cow 2:135-140 |
equates Christianity with idolatry. |
| The Imrans 3:1-4 |
says it confirms the Gospel. |
| The Imrans 3:35-59 |
"Imran" being Mary's father, this version of
Mary's story deviates from the Biblical version by adding
details such as Mary's birth and her mother dedicating her
to God while she was still in the womb. The Koran says Mary's
mother prayed that she would be protected from satan, the
accursed one, and that God received her. then it goes on
to mention John the Baptist and confirms his calling. Then
narrative goes back to Mary where the angels are telling
her about her Son, Jesus and says He will: a.Be the Messiah,
b.He will be noble in this world and the hereafter
c.He will preach to men even from the cradle.
d.He will lead a righteous life.
e.Mary will be a virgin when she gives birth to Him.
f.Jesus will be instructed by God in the Torah and in the
Gospel and be sent forth as an apostle to the Israelites.
g.Jesus will make clay birds come to life.
h.He will heal the blind, cleanse the leper and raise the
dead.
i.Rather than say Jesus was God's son, it says He was
created like Adam, "When He decrees a thing, He need
only
say `Be' and it is." "Jesus is like Adam in the
sight of
God.
He created Him of dust and said to Him: `Be' and He
was." |
| Imrans 3:78-80 |
Rejects serving angels or prophets as gods.
I think this was his anti-catholic statement. |
| The Table (The Food) 5:46-47 |
Jesus was sent by God with the Gospel, which
confirmed the Torah. |
| The Table (The Food) 5:51 |
"Believers, take neither Jews nor Christians
for your friends. They are friends with one another. Whoever
of you seeks their friendship shall become one of their number.
God does not guide the wrongdoers." |
| The Table (The Food) 5:72-73 |
"Unbelievers are those that say: `God is
the Messiah, the son of Mary.' For the Messiah Himself said,
`Children of Israel, serve God, My Lord and your Lord.' He
that worships other gods besides God, God will deny him Paradise,
and Hell shall be his home. Unbelievers are those that say:
`God is one of three.' There is but one God. If they do not
desist from so saying, those of them that disbelieve shall
be sternly punished." |
| The Table (The Food) 5:82 |
Christians are nearest in affection to the
faithful, because there are priests and monks among them;
and because they are free from pride. |
| Repentance 9:30-31 |
Says Jews make out Ezra to be the Son of God
(I have no idea where this comes from) and Christians make
out Jesus to be the Son of God, like infidels of old. "God
confound them! How perverse they are! They make of their clerics
and their monks, and of the Messiah, the son of Mary, Lords
besides God; though they were ordered to serve one God only." |
| The Night Journey (The Israelites) 17:56-57 |
Praying to saints forbidden.(A lot of what
the Koran says is directed at Catholic tradition, though Muhammad
sees that as representative of all Christian thought, which
may have been legitimate in his day. It is not my intention
to involve this study in the validity of Catholic traditions.
Since it is an inherent part of Muhammad's view of Christianity,
it must be referred to here.) |
| Kneeling 45:16 |
"We gave the Book to the Israelites and
bestowed on them wisdom and prophethood." |
|
|
|
| The Cow 2:187 |
Polygamy approved. And you can now lie with
your wives on the night of the fast. They are for your comfort
and you for theirs. (God knew you were fooling your selves). |
| The Cow 2:221 |
You cannot marry pagan women, though they may
please you; believing slave girls are better. |
| The Cow 2:222 |
No sex during menstruation. |
| The Cow 2:226-228 |
Divorce must have a waiting period of three
months, during which the man must not go into her. She must
have three menstrual cycles and not hide it if she is pregnant.
Though that doesn't prevent divorce, men would do well to
be reconciled with a pregnant wife. After the waiting period
the man reaffirms his divorce. "Women shall with justice
have rights similar to those exercised against them, although
men have a status above women." |
| The Cow 2:230 |
If a man divorces his wife, he cannot remarry
her until after she has been married to someone else and been
divorced from him. (This is exactly the opposite of the Law
in Deuteronomy 24:1-4. In fact, the Law of Moses calls it
an abomination) |
| The Cow 2:229 |
Once the second pronouncement of divorce has
been made after the waiting period, she may go out and take
anything that had been given to her. |
| The Cow 2:33 |
Mothers shall give suck to their children for
two whole years if the father wishes the sucking to be completed. |
| Women 4:1-4 |
You may marry up to four women if you can maintain
equality among them. |
| Women 4:11 |
A male shall inherit twice as much as a female. |
| Women 4:15 |
A woman caught fornicating will be confined
for life. |
| |
Women 4:34 "Men have authority over women
because God has made the one superior to the other, and because
they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient.
They guard their unseen parts because God has guarded them.
As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them
and send them to beds apart and beat them. Then if they obey
you, take no further action against them. God is high, supreme." |
| Women 4:35 |
Marital problems may be arbitrated using representatives
of each family. |
| Women 4:129 |
"Try as you may, you cannot treat all your
wives impartially." |
| The Bee 16:57-59 |
Speaks against people who did not want babygirls,
some of which practiced infanticide if they had one. |
| The Believers 23:1-6 |
"Blessed are the believers, who are humble
in their prayers; who avoid profane talk, and give alms to
the destitute; who restrain their carnal desires (except with
their wives and slave girls, for these are lawful to them)." |
| The Light 24:31 |
"Enjoin believing women to turn their eyes
away from temptation and to preserve their chastity; to cover
their adornments (except such as are normally displayed);
to draws their veils over their bosoms and not to reveal their
finery except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's
fathers, their sons, their step-sons, their brothers, their
brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their
women-servants, and their slave girls; male attendants lacking
in natural vigor, and children who have no carnal knowledge
of women. And let them not stamp their feet when walking so
as to reveal their hidden trinkets." |
| The Light 24:33 |
"Let those who cannot afford to marry live
in continence until God shall enrich them." |
| The Light 24:33 |
"You shall not force your slave girls into
prostitution in order that you may make money, if they wish
to preserve their chastity. If anyone compels them, God will
be forgiving and merciful to them." |
| |
She Who is Tested (The Examined One) 60:10 Divorce
allowed when married to an unbeliever. |
| The Divorce 65:1-2 |
Women are not to be expelled from their homes
when divorce, and support is provided for. |
| The Divorce 65:4-5 |
If the woman is pregnant with your child, the
waiting period for divorce ends with her confinement for child-birth.
You should maintain her while she is suckling, unless you
just can't stand each other, in which case you should hire
other women to suckle your child. Sounds like men get automatic
custody! |
| The Ladders (the Ways of Ascent) 70:28-31 |
"... (for none is secure from the punishment
of their Lord); who restrain their carnal desire (save with
their wives and slave girls, for these are lawful to them:
he that lusts after other thanthese is a transgressor);..." |
|
|
|
| The Cow 2:190-193 |
"Fight for the sake of God those that fight
against you, but do not attack them first. God does not love
the aggressors. Slay them wherever you find them. Drive them
out of the places from which they drove you. Idolatry is worse
than carnage. But do not fight them within the precincts of
the Holy Mosque unless they attack you there; if they attack
you put them to the sword. Thus shall the unbelievers be rewarded:
but if they mend their ways God is forgiving and merciful.
Fight against them until idolatry is no more and God's religion
reigns supreme. But if they mend their ways, fight none except
the evil doers." |
| The Cow 2:216 |
"Fighting is obligatory for you, much as
you dislike it. But you may hate a thing although it is good
for you, and love a thing although it is bad for you. God
knows, but you do not." |
| The Cow 2:244 |
"Fight for the cause of God and know that
He hears all and knows all." |
| The Cow 2:246 |
"Have you not heard of what the leaders
of the Israelites demanded of one of their prophets after
the death
of Moses? `Raise up for us a king', they said, `and we will
fight for the cause of God.' He replied, `What if you refus
to fight, when ordered to do so?' `Why should we refuse to
fight for the cause of God,' they replied, `when we and all
our children have been driven from our dwellings?' But when
at last they were ordered to fight, they all refused, except
a few of them. God knows evil doers." |
| Women 4:94-96 |
"God has given those that fight with their
goods and their persons a higher rank that those who stay
at home. God has promised all a good reward; but far richer
is the recompense of those who fight for Him; ranks of His
own bestowal, forgiveness, and mercy. God is forgiving and
merciful." |
| Women 4:100 |
Whoever dies fighting for Allah and Muhammad
has reward with Allah and forgiveness. |
| The Table (The Food) 5:33-34 |
"Those that make war against God and His
apostle and spread disorder in the land shall be put to death
or crucified or have their hands and feet cut off on alternate
sides, or be banished from the country. They shall be held
up to shame in this world and sternly punished in the hereafter:
except those that repent before you reduce them. For you must
know that God is forgiving and merciful. |
| The Spoils 8:12-17 . |
.. "I shall cast terror into the hearts
of the infidels. Strike off their heads, strike off the very
tips of their fingers!" .... "Believers, when you
encounter the infidels on the march, do not turn your back
son them in flight. If anyone on that day turns his back to
them, except for tactical reasons, or to join another band,
he shall incur the wrath of God and Hell shall be his home:
and evil fate. It was not you, but God who slew them. It was
not you who smote them: God smote them so that He might richly
reward the faithful." |
| The Spoils 8:39 |
"Make war on them until idolatry shall
cease and God's religion shall reign supreme." |
| The Spoils 8:41 |
"Know that one-fifth of your spoils shall
belong to God, the Apostle, and Apostle's kinsfolk, the orphans,
the needy, and those that travel the road...." |
| The Spoils 8:74-75 |
"Those that have embraced the Faith and
fled their homes and fought for the cause of God, and those
that have sheltered them and helped them - they are the true
believers. They shall receive mercy and a generous provision.
Those that have since embraced the Faith and fled their homes
and fought with you - they too are your brothers; although
according to the Book of God those who are bound by ties of
blood are nearest to one another. God has knowledge of all
things." |
| Repentance 9:5 |
"When the sacred months are over, slay
the idolaters wherever you find them. Arrest them, besiege
them, and lie in ambush everywhere for them. If they repent
and take to prayer and render the alms levy, allow them to
go their way. God is forgiving and merciful." |
| Repentance 9:29 |
"Fight against such of those to whom the
Scriptures were given as believe neither in God nor the last
day, who do not forbid what God and His apostle have forbidden,
and do not embrace the true Faith, until they pay tribute
out of hand and are utterly subdued" |
| Repentance 9:73 |
"Prophet, make war on the unbelievers and
the hypocrites and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be
their home: an evil fate." |
| Repentance 9:111 |
"God has purchased from the faithful their
lives and worldly goods and in return has promised them the
Garden. They will fight for the cause of God, slay and be
slain. Such is the true promise He has made them in the Torah,
the Gospel and the Koran." |
| Repentance 9:123 |
"Believers, make war on the infidels who
dwell around you. Deal firmly with them. Know that God is
with the righteous." |
| Pilgrimage 22:39-40 |
"Permission to take up arms is hereby given
to those who are attacked, because they have been wronged.
God has power to grant them victory: those who have been unjustly
driven from their homes, only because they said: `Our Lord
is God.'...." |
| The Spider 29:69 |
Those who fight for Islam will be guided by
God. |
| Muhammad 47:4-6 |
"When you meet the unbelievers in the battlefield
strike off their heads and, when you have laid them low, bind
you captives firmly. Then grant them freedom or take ransom
from them, until War shall lay down her burdens." ...
"As for those who are slain in the cause of God, He will
not allow their works to perish. He will vouchsafe them guidance
and ennoble their state; He will
admit them to the Paradise He has made known to them." |
| The Victory 48:1-2 |
Muhammad given victory so that sins could be
forgiven. And (in verse 5) so that believers may enter Gardens
watered by running streams. |
| The Victory 48:29 |
"Muhammad is God's apostle. Those who follow
him are ruthless to unbelievers but merciful to one another." |
| Battle Array (The Ranks) 61:4 |
"God loves those who fight in His cause
as firm as a mighty edifice." |
|

Bible Characters acknowledged as Being Led by God
This is a simple list, references not given because they are
abundant to any reader of the Koran (if you want to check it).
Adam, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Lot, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Moses,
Aaron, Joshua, Samuel, Job, Jonah, Sau,l David, Solomon, Elijah,
Elisha, Joseph, (patriarch) Mary, Jesus, John (Baptist)
Zacharias :(father of John T.B.)
There are others, like "Imran" who is said to be Mary's
father, and Mary's mother who is not named. Samuel is not named,
but referred to in The Cow 2:247 as "the Prophet".
None of the Apostles of Jesus is named in the Koran. There are
references to Jesus' disciples, but they say little. It might
be that Muhammad's rejection of the doctrine contained in the
New Testament apostolic writings had something to do with that.

We said to the angels: `Prostrate yourselves before Adam.'
They all prostrated themselves except satan, who refused to
prostrate himself."(Who is *WE* here?!)
`Why did you not prostrate yourself when I commanded you?',
He asked. (And who is *HE* here if not God?)
`I am nobler than he,' he replied. `You created me of
fire but You created him of clay.' He said: `Off with you
hence! This is no place for your contemptuous pride. Away
with you! Henceforth you shall be humble.' He replied: `Reprieve
me till the Day of Resurrection.' `You
are reprieved,' said He. `Because You have led me into sin,'
he declared, `I will waylay Your servants as they walk on
Your straight path, and spring upon them from the front
and from the rear, from their right and from their left.
Then You will find the greater part of them ungrateful.'
`Begone!', He said. `A despicable outcast you shall henceforth
be. As for those that follow you, I shall fill Hell with
you all.' |
| Al-Hijr (The Rock) 15:26-38 |
"We created man from dry clay, from black
moulded loam, and before him, satan from smokeless fire. Your
Lord said to the angels: `I am creating man from dry clay,
from black moulded load. When I have fashioned him and breathed
My spirit into him, kneel down and prostrate yourselves before
him.' The angels, one and all, prostrated themselves, except
satan. He refused to prostrate himself with the others. `satan,'
said God, `Why do you not prostrate yourself?' He replied:
`I will not bow to a mortal
whom You created of dry clay, or black moulded loam.' `Begone,'
said God, `you are accursed. My curse shall be on you till
Judgement-day.' `Lord,' said satan, `reprieve me till the
Day of Resurrection.' He answered, `You are reprieved until
the Appointed Day.'" |
| The Night Journey (The Israelites) 17:61-65 |
Satan refusing to bow before Adam again. |
| The Cave 18:50 |
Satan refusing to bow, and here he is called
a "Jinn". |
| Mary 19:21 |
Jesus is announced as a blessing "From
Ourself". Is this speaking of angels or trinity? It can't
be trinity because Mohammad DEFINITELY doesn't like that idea!
Another translation says, "a mercy from Us". |
| Mary 19:67 |
"Does man forget that WE created him out
of the void?" |
| Ta'Ha' 20:115 |
Satan refusing to bow again. |
| Ta'Ha' 20:132 |
"We shall OURSELF provide for you."
(Though translations differ) |
| The Prophets 21:30 |
"We made every living thing of water." |
| The Prophets 21:73 |
Abraham, Isaac, Lot, Jacob "...served
none but OURSELF.." Other translations say "Us". |
| The Prophets 21:84 |
Job received a "...blessing from OURSELF".
"US" in other translations. |
| The Prophets 21:91 |
"And of the woman who kept her chastity.
We breathed into her of OUR Spirit and made her and her son
a sign to all men." |
| The Pilgrimage 22:5 |
Men, if you doubt the resurrection remember
that We first created you from dust, and then from a half-formed
lump of flesh, so that We might manifest to you Our power. |
| The Nightly Visitant (The Night-Comer) 86:4-7 |
"For every soul there is a guardian watching it. Let
man reflect from what
he is created. He is created from an ejaculated fluid that
issues from between the loins and the ribs."
What is odd in all this is that it seems to be either Trinitarian
or that the angels were our creators. Which is it? Did God
create man or did the angels like Gabriel? |

for him into the sea and who performed other tasks besides.
Over them We kept a watchful eye." |
| The Ant 27:16-17 |
Solomon succeeded David. He said:`Know, my
people, we have been taught the tongue of birds and endowed
with all good things. Surely this is a signal favour. His
forces of jinn and men and birds were called to Solomon's
presence, and ranged in battle array." |
| The Ant 27:38-40 |
"And to his (Solomon's) nobles he said:
`Which of you will bring to me her (The Queen of Sheba) throne,
before they sue for peace?' A demon from among the jinn replied:
`I will bring it to you before you rise from your seat. I
am strong enough and faithful.' But he who was deeply versed
in the Book, said: `I will bring it to you in a twinkling'" |

worshipped jinn, and it was in jinn that most of them believed.'" |
| Revelations Well Expounded (Ha Mim) 41:29 |
"The unbelievers will say: `Lord, show
us the jinn and men who led us astray. We will trample them

who, when they came and listened to the Koran, said to each
other: `Hush! Hush! As soon as it was ended they betook themselves
to their people and gave them warning. `Our people,' they
said, `we have just been listening to a scripture revealed
since the time of Moses, confirming previous scriptures and
directing to the truth and to a straight path. Our people,
answer the call of God's summoner and believe in Him! He will
forgive you your sins and deliver you from a woeful scourge.'" |

might worship Me." |
| The Jinn 72:6- |
"(Some men have sought the help of jinn,
but they misled them into further error. Like you, they thoughtthat
God could never resurrect the dead.) `We made our way to high
heaven, and found it filled with mighty wardens and fiery
comets. We sat eavesdropping, but eavesdroppers find flaming
darts in wait for them. We cannot tell if this bodes evil
to the inhabitants of earth or whether their Lord intends
to guide them. Some of us are righteous while others are not;
we follow different ways. We know we cannot escape on earth
from God, nor can we elude His grasp by flight. When we heard
His guidance we believed in Him: he that believes in his Lord
shall fear neither dishonesty nor injustice. Some of us are
Muslims and some are wrongdoers. Those that embrace Islam
pursue the right path; but those that do wrong shall become
the fuel of Hell.'" |

Section 18.
The Promised Land is Israel's |
| The Table (The Food) 5:19-21 |
People of the Book! Our Apostle has come to you with revelations
after an interval during which there were no apostles, lest
you say: 'No one has come to give us good news or to warn
us.' Now someone has come to give you good news and to warn
you. God has power over all things. Bear in mind the words
of Moses to his people. He said: 'Remember, my people, the
favour which God has bestowed upon you. He has raised up prophets
among you, made you kings, and given you that which He has
given to no other nation. Enter, my people, the holy land
which God has assigned for you. Do not turn back or you shall
be ruined.' |
| Jonah (Yunus) 10:93 |
We settled the Israelites in a blessed land and provided them
with good things. Nor did they disagree among themselves until
knowledge was given them. Your Lord will judge their differences
on the Day of the Resurrection. |
| The Night Journey (The Israelites) 17:104 |
We said to the Israelites: 'Dwell in this land. When the promise
of the hereafter comes to be fulfilled, We shall assemble
you together.' |

Section 19.
Catch Phrases
It might seem like this is a trivial thing to be in this statement,
but it's little catch phrases like this that stick with the mind
and become a major part of the influence of a writing such as
this. These are repeated often throughout the Koran, such as the
promise of "Gardens watered by running streams", so
that they are remembered if only for their constant repetition.
This list is by no means exhaustive.
He is the forgiving One, the merciful God is forgiving and merciful
God's grace is infinite
He is the compassionate, the merciful
God hears all, knows all
God does not love the aggressors
God is with the righteous
God loves the charitable
Swift is God's reckoning
God is mighty and wise
God is compassionate to His servants
God is stern in retribution
God guides those whom he will to the right path
Idolatry is worse than carnage
God knows, but you do not
God is forgiving and lenient
God has knowledge of all things
God has knowledge of all your thoughts
God observes your actions
He is munificent and all knowing
God is self-sufficient and indulgent
God does not guide the unbelievers
God is self-sufficient and all knowing
God is never heedless of what you do
God loves the righteous
God is cognizant of all your actions
He whom God confounds you cannot guide
God has knowledge of the good you do
God is with those that are steadfast
God does not guide the evil-doers
God's reward is great indeed
God knows the evil-doers
God is all knowing and wise
He is watching all your actions
Your Lord is never heedless of what you do
None can guide those whom God has led astray
Wrong-doers never prosper
He does not love the unbelievers
God does not love the arrogant and the vain-glorious
The Word of God shall never change
God does not love the evil-doers
Gardens watered by running streams
And here are some that are not repeated so much but are worthy
of note in my opinion anyway:
"They plotted and God plotted. God is the supreme plotter."
The Imrans 3:54
"Have nothing to do with those who have split their religion
into sects." Cattle 6:159
"Nor did they disagree among themselves until knowledge
was given them." Jonah (Yunus) 10:93
"There are some among them who twist their tongue when quoting
scripture." Imrans 3:78
"Yet men have divided themselves into factions, each rejoicing
in it's own doctrines. Leave them in their error till death overtakes
them." The Believers 23:53-54
